Dr. Debra Goran, is a clinical psychologist licensed in both the states of Ohio and Kentucky in U.S. She has been practicing for over 45 years, initially under the supervision of other clinical psychologists. Having 4 degrees in psychology from three different institutions, she has had many different supervisors and mentors along the way and has had the opportunity to work in many different settings and capacities, ranging from acting as a school psychologist for a Montessori school and doing abilities testing for children as young as age two, to consulting with nursing homes and assisted living facilities on end of life issues.

Dr. Goran has worked on inpatient units, in community mental health centers, with Buearu of Veteran's Affairs Medical Centers, and in several private practices over the years. She has special interest in treating habit control disorders (such as eating disorders, smoking, and drug and alcohol abuse) and has also done extensive work with treating trauma, domestic violence, and anxiety disorders and mood disorders. Among the skills she brings to Northshore Medical are hypnosis and guided imagery, EMDR for treatment of anxiety and trauma, couples and relationship counseling, anger management, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness based habit control.

Her philosophy for working with clients is, "You drive the bus, I'll read the map. You tell me where you'd like to go, and I will tell you all the different routes you can take to get there. You pick the route you want, with side trips as needed, and I will help you stay on the course you have chosen."
